How to keep your hair healthy and beautiful this fall

The fall is here with its yellow leaves and cold winds, welcoming the cosy sweaters and wind dried hair (unfortunately). But, there are ways to keep your hair clean and healthy, without wasting too much time and energy. Here are some old but gold tips for making your hair shine throughout the entire season:

  1. Make sure to always keep your hair clean. There are those days when we get to tired to do anything at all, including washing our own hair. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t do it. Don’t wait for washing your hair tomorrow, unless it’s in the middle of the night or your hair is already clean. If you leave your hair dirty and greasy for many days, the risks are that it will affect your skin and make you more frustrated and stressed out.
  2. But do not wash your hair every day! Doing so could cause more split ends and strip of its natural oils, drying out your scalp and hair. Try washing your hair every two or three days and you will see your hair looking effortlessly soft and shiny.
  3. Do not rinse with hot water when showering. There are many cons of using hot water, including easier damage to your hair. Here are some great benefits of using cold water when showering.
  4. Avoid brushing your hair when it’s wet. Wait until it dries before you do it.
  5. Let your hair air-dry instead of using the blow dryer.
  6. Avoid the hair roots when using the conditioner. A thumb rule is to put it on ¾ of your hair.
  7. Give yourself some free time and try on some hair masks. There are many home remedy recipes for making your hair stronger and healthier.
  8. Trim your hair at least once or a couple of times every year to prevent some split ends.
  9. Protect your hair in the wind. Use beanies or hats to protect your head and hair from the wind and rain.
  10. Avoid overusing hair products and colouring your hair, if it is not necessary. There tend to be chemicals in these products that may dry out your hair and make it brittle.
  11. Give yourself a scalp massage. A good head massage will make you feel more relaxed and less stressed out. It will also stimulate your hair roots and help your hair grow faster.
  12. Brush your hair the right way. Work your way from the bottom to the top. This will minimalize the risks of harming your hair.
